A Look Behind the Lens: Creating the “If There’s A Chance To Reunite” Music Video

by Christopher Louie

“If There’s A Chance To Reunite” is a poem that explores the ache of lost love and the quiet hope for a second chance. It captures the emotional aftermath of a separation—one born not of indifference, but of fear. The speaker reflects on a once-powerful connection, still haunted by its intensity, and despite the pain of parting, they acknowledge their own missteps while holding space for the other’s emotional journey. At its core, the piece is a heartfelt plea: If there’s even the slightest chance… would you take it?

When I began creating the music video, I envisioned a visual narrative centered on a broken-hearted young man still tethered to a love that’s moved beyond him. His former partner left abruptly one fateful night—no clear explanation, only a deep sense that their love became too overwhelming for her to bear. Beneath her departure lies the echo of past trauma, and the need for space and healing.

Throughout the video, I use symbolism to tell this unspoken story. In several key scenes, the two stand isolated on opposing cliffs—an emotional and literal distance between them. The protagonist silently urges her to leap into his arms, hoping she might once again choose love. But she remains still, unsure, as if paralyzed by the weight of commitment or the wounds she’s yet to heal.

One particularly haunting scene flickers like a memory: she leaps across the cliffs, arms outstretched, seemingly ready to reunite. But the image is hazy—perhaps a dream, a wish, or a figment of his imagination. The ambiguity is intentional, reflecting the blurred line between longing and reality.

Visually, the video features mountain tops, expansive skies, and cliffs—landscapes chosen to mirror the emotional heights and depths of their story. The female figure, dressed in a flowing white gown, embodies a heavenly presence. In the protagonist’s eyes, she is not just a lost love—she’s an angel he was fortunate enough to meet, but never meant to keep. Like a miracle, her presence was fleeting but unforgettable.

The final lines of the poem capture the quiet ache of enduring hope—an intimate plea suspended between acceptance and longing. Though the protagonist knows, deep down, that a reunion may never come, a sliver of hope lingers. In the face of emotional darkness, he holds onto the fragile possibility that if even the faintest chance remains, she might choose to take it.

This sentiment is crystallized in the closing stanza:

If there’s a chance for us to reunite,
will you consider taking that leap?

Thank you for joining me in this behind-the-scenes look at the making of If There’s A Chance To Reunite music video.  I hope the visuals deepened your connection to the poem’s message of hope, heartbreak, and healing.
