Creating the official music video for “The Timing Just Wasn’t Right For Us” has been an emotional return to a chapter of my artistic journey that has always stayed close to me. This track was originally released on my album Volume Three (A Promise Kept), and it remains one of the most personal pieces I’ve written—born from a poem of the same name that explores what it means to meet the right person at the wrong time.
When I first wrote the poem, I wasn’t trying to tell a perfect love story. I was trying to capture a truth that so many of us live through quietly: that love doesn’t always unfold the way our hearts want it to. Sometimes the universe aligns two people in a moment that feels destined, only to pull them apart just as quickly. That tension—the pull, the ache, the timing—became the heartbeat of this piece.
In the music video, I wanted to bring that emotional landscape to life. The visuals lean heavily into themes of fate, divine timing, and the quiet resilience of two souls that keep finding their way back to each other, even when circumstances don’t allow them to stay together. For me, this story has never been about loss; it’s about connection, patience, and the deep belief that some bonds are written long before we ever meet the person they belong to.
Every line of the poem reflects something real—those moments when trauma, timing, or unspoken truths get in the way, and you’re left holding onto a love that feels both undeniable and unreachable. But it also carries a spiritual trust, a faith in something bigger than coincidence. I truly believe that when two people are meant to reconnect, the universe has a way of closing the gap between them.
Bringing the poem to the screen allowed me to honor all the emotions tied to it: the longing, the tenderness, the regret, and the hope. It’s a story for anyone who has ever felt that bittersweet mix of loving someone deeply while knowing the timing wasn’t ready for you both. And yet, despite everything, still believing that one day the stars might align again.
Revisiting this piece for the music video reminded me why I wrote it in the first place—not just to express my own experience, but to give a voice to the countless people who’ve lived their own version of this story. “The Timing Just Wasn’t Right For Us” is more than a track from Volume Three—it’s a reminder that love isn’t always linear, but it is always meaningful.
I’m grateful to finally share this visual chapter with you. I hope it resonates deeply, and I hope it brings comfort to anyone who’s ever held onto the right person… just at the wrong time.
