When I first released “Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder” on my debut album Volume One (I Left You Before You Could Leave Me), I knew it was a special track. It captured a moment in anyone’s life who had experienced heartbreak, where longing, vulnerability, and hope all collided. At the time, it felt like I had told the story exactly as it needed to be told. But songs have a way of following you, of evolving right alongside you.
That’s why I decided to revisit it. This new single isn’t just a remake—it’s a reimagined version of one of my earliest pieces. After five album releases, I realized how much my sound, my perspective, and my artistry had grown. What I’m bringing to the song now is layered with more experience, more emotion, and a deeper understanding of what absence and yearning really feel like.
The lyrics are still the same, but the delivery carries a different weight. The production has been expanded, the textures more refined, and the emotion more pronounced. In a way, it feels like I’ve taken the original seed from Volume One (I Left You Before You Could Leave Me) and let it bloom into something fuller, more powerful, and more timeless.
For me, this release is about honoring where I started while showing where I’m headed. “Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder” was never finished—it was waiting for me to return to it with fresh ears and a fuller heart. I see it as a bridge between past and future, a reminder that music is alive, and that sometimes the songs we think we’ve completed are still teaching us something new.
This track isn’t just about my story anymore—it’s about anyone who has ever felt the sting of distance and the power of love that refuses to fade. And now, I get to share that story again.
