I Left When I Saw You With Someone Else (Freestyle Ballad) | Official Music Video

by Christopher Louie

“I Left When I Saw You With Someone Else (Freestyle Ballad)” music video presents a narrative that many people recognize all too well. Drawn from themes explored in my Volume Four (Broken) album and the poem that inspired it, the story reflects the universal arc of love strained by betrayal and the moment when clarity finally breaks through denial.

The visual narrative begins with what appears to be an ideal relationship—warmth, trust, and the kind of promise that makes the world feel steady. But as the cracks form, subtle at first, signs of infidelity begin to surface. Notes, messages, and images appear like quiet alarms, only to be brushed aside with convincing excuses. Gaslighting takes hold, reshaping reality until one partner begins to doubt their own instincts. It’s a heavy descent into second-guessing, where even the obvious feels uncertain.

The emotional impact deepens until the truth is no longer hidden, no longer softened, and no longer deniable. Witnessing it firsthand becomes the turning point. In that split second, confusion dissolves into certainty—and leaving transforms from heartbreak into an act of self-preservation.

This music video sits with the aftermath: the ache of betrayal, the psychological exhaustion of being gaslit, and the steady quiet strength that rises once the decision to walk away is made. It’s a reflection on heartbreak, on rebuilding trust in oneself, and on understanding that sometimes an ending isn’t a loss—it’s the only path forward.

The “Freestyle Ballad” version captures that emotional gravity through its raw, unfiltered energy—driven by harder-hitting percussion, surging electric-guitar peaks, and vocals that lift and yodel with an intensity that mirrors the story’s emotional climb.

I called this version a Freestyle Ballad because I wanted to blend two different musical ideas into one emotional style. To me, a ballad is usually slow, emotional, and deeply connected to heartbreak, love, memories, and personal feelings. This song carries that kind of emotional storytelling. The lyrics come from the pain of seeing someone you still care about with another person, and the entire mood is reflective, sentimental, and honest. The word freestyle adds another layer to the song. In music, freestyle often means performing in a loose, expressive, and emotionally raw way instead of following a very strict structure. I let certain lines stretch naturally, allowed some melodies to feel improvised, and followed the emotion of the moment rather than trying to make everything sound perfectly polished or tightly arranged. I wanted it to feel personal and spontaneous — almost like I was pouring my feelings out in real time. So when I call it a Freestyle Ballad, I mean that the song is emotionally driven like a traditional ballad, but performed with the free-flowing and expressive spirit of a freestyle performance. That combination gives the song a more intimate and heartfelt feeling, which perfectly matches the experience of walking away after seeing someone you loved with somebody else.
