“Let Me Not Be The One You Spurn” was one of the very first poems I transformed into a song. With its catchy R&B hook and soulful melody, it was one of my personal favorites from my debut album, Volume One (I Left You Before You Could Leave Me). When I first shared the track, the rollout was met with enthusiasm from my Instagram friends and community—an early sign that this piece had something special.
Now, I’m excited to announce that this song is returning in a brand-new way. On Friday, September 19, I’ll be releasing a 5-track single EP, “Let Me Not Be The One You Spurn”, a collection that reimagines the original through four distinct versions:
1. Track 1: Retro Mix – go back in time with this 80’s synth-pop remix.
2. Track 2: Reimagined Version –a renewed take on the original—sleeker, more intimate, with an uptempo rhythm and a stronger dance groove.
3. Track 3: Nightlife Mix – an energetic version with a pulsing beat and haunting textures.
4. Track 4: Symphonic Remix – sweeping, orchestral arrangements that bring cinematic depth.
5. Track 5: Chillout Mix – a mellow, atmospheric rendition that drifts into quiet reflection, with a saxophone weaving in hauntingly through the song’s closing moments.
At its core, “Let Me Not Be The One You Spurn” is rooted in a poem I wrote about desire, hesitation, and the fear of rejection. The poem tells the story of someone who longs to connect, but worries their feelings might be dismissed. That fragile space between courage and doubt is what inspired the original song—and now, this new single lets me re-explore those themes through different sounds and textures.
Each version stands on its own, yet together they form a fuller portrait of the poem’s emotional truth. It’s a journey through longing, fear, hope, and the timeless plea for love not to be turned away.
