PROLOGUE
This poem addresses ghosting as a form of emotional abuse, emphasizing its negative impacts on self-worth, feelings of abandonment, and confusion due to lack of closure. It highlights how ghosting can reinforce beliefs of inadequacy and prompt memories of neglect, leading to self-doubt and pain. However, it also suggests that being ghosted might serve as a protective measure, directing individuals away from unhealthy relationships. The overarching message encourages readers to refrain from contacting those who choose to ghost and to recognize their own value, promoting the idea that moving on is a healthier choice when faced with such disrespectful behavior.
Why Ghosting Hurt So Much
Ghosting happens when people run out of excuse,
to avoid communication – it’s emotional abuse.
It triggers our fears of being abandoned.
A lonely future is frightful to envision.
It reinforces beliefs that we’re not good enough.
It’s painful to think we’re unworthy of someone’s love.
It can trigger memories of emotional neglect.
Why are we just an “option” for someone to select?
It leaves us confused with a lack of closure.
It’s hard to move on when we don’t know if it’s over.
It creates self-doubt like what’s wrong with me?
Our self-worth is destroyed when our thoughts are ugly.
It makes us feel like we are not worthy of love.
We just keep trying harder but we’ll never be enough.
But being ghosted could be a blessing in disguise;
So don’t contact them is your best advice.
If you’re being ghosted, it’s a sign to move on.
This person didn’t want you because they chose to be gone…
and they didn’t respect you enough to respond!
