PROLOGUE
This poem reflects on a world that has fallen into darkness and despair after the departure of someone significant. The once-beautiful setting, filled with potential and joy, now causes grief and heartache. The narrator struggles with dreams tainted by nightmares, mourning the loss of connection. The central theme revolves around a broken heart, fragmented and possibly irreparable, yearning to understand its fate. It questions whether broken hearts can return to their former joy or remain forever traumatized, unable to form new bonds due to deep emotional wounds. This exploration of pain highlights the profound impact of loss.
Where Do Broken Hearts Go?
A world once beautiful,
with so much potential
crumbled to pieces when you left.
The joy once familiar
has now lost its vigor
I’m grief-stricken in a world gone bereft.
Even now in my dreams
the light just faintly gleams,
darkness envelops that once magical realm.
Dreams become nightmares
when you are no longer there
as pain and despair keeps me overwhelmed.
The heart is now broken
for a soul it has once chosen;
It cries and aches for its special friend.
The heart’s cracked and shattered
with pieces randomly scattered;
It may never become whole again.
There’s one thing I wish to know,
Where do broken hearts go?
Can they find their way back to how things used to be?
Or will they forever be traumatized,
with wounds too big to cauterize,
and never allow another soul to be with me?
