PROLOGUE
This poetry piece explores the emotional struggle of letting go of a connection that has faltered despite attempts at reconciliation. The speaker reflects on their desire to salvage the relationship and the pain of realizing that both partners must be willing to sever the spiritual bond for true closure. Throughout the poem, feelings of love and longing are expressed, emphasizing how deeply entwined their lives have been. Ultimately, the speaker acknowledges that after much contemplation and heartache, it is time for both individuals to move on, accepting the inevitability of their separation and the necessity of letting each other go.
We Need To Let Each Other Go
I had waited for so long
‘though I knew it would be wrong
to have a reconciliation with you.
I tried although in vain
and salvaged what remained
to build a future for us two.
For a while I tried to message,
even hinted at wanting marriage,
that I would like to see you again;
But you’d rather remain quiet,
although you stalked my IG in private,
reaching back out was never your intent.
I know that you still love me
which makes it hard to set you free;
I know you have good reasons for your doubts.
But know that I am here
to help dispel all your fears
in case you ever want to talk it out.
You are a gentle soul
and I just want you to know
that my life without you is incomplete.
You are my first love
and I will always place you above
everyone else that I have or will ever meet.
Even though we’ve been apart
but I always have you in my heart
not a day goes by that I don’t think of you.
But you’ve been gone for so long
took me so much strength to stay strong
all this time just to make it through.
This may be my last message to you;
Don’t feel bad in case you do;
Deep in our hearts we both already know.
This connection can’t go on;
We’ve been separated for so long;
It’s time we need to let each other go.
