The narrator believes this connection signals that their relationship is not over, and they hope for reconnection, reaffirming their belief in a destined love that transcends time and distance.
We Are Meant To Be
I missed you a lot if you only knew,
and for a while I felt this way.
My mind couldn’t stop thinking of you;
It’d been years since you left that day.
I would try to think of something new,
but those thoughts just wouldn’t stay.
The mind would often return to you;
What reason for it to be this way?
I’d notice no matter what I do,
I’d think of you and what you might say.
And then the mere thought of you,
would bring out the tears right away.
I’m still very much in love with you,
even though we both have gone astray.
Others I have tried to pursue,
but you’d be on my mind at the end of the day.
My heart has no place for anyone new;
Tried as I might, the heart couldn’t be swayed
‘cause no one else could compare to you;
My feelings for you refused to fade.
All of this must be clues,
that this is the Universe’s way,
to let me know that we are not through,
that you will be back with me someday.
This unique love between us two
is meant to be as if destined by Fate.
My heart assures me I’m meant for you
that you feel the same ‘though you’re away.
I like to believe that to be true;
And if you still feel the same way,
I earnestly hope to hear from you,
that you could reach out without delay.
