Too Many Things Remind Me Of You

It’d been so many years
since you were last here;
The reason you left, I will never know.
I now look a little older;
My heart is a bit colder,
since you stole that flame from me those years ago.

I never knew why,
you never said goodbye;
I thought you left the door open for you to return.
Was it something I did,
or said to make you leave,
or was this love too intense and had you concerned?

I searched for you everywhere,
retreading old places here and there,
and anywhere I could find you again.
Sometimes glimpses of you’d flash by,
and quickly vanished before my eyes;
Too many things remind me of you in the end.

When I see people drinking coffee,
it’d bring back memories of you and me,
talking in the coffee shop where we first met.
A laughter down the hall
could very easily recall,
the joy on your face that now remained only as a silhouette.

When I hear a familiar song,
that we used to sing along,
it’d stir up emotions that’d be too much to take.
Too many things remind me,
of those beautiful memories,
many years ago that we used to make.

So I’m still alone here,
but why did you disappear?
I thought you wanted a future together.
So I’d often wonder where are you?
Have you found someone new?
I hope you found your happily ever after.
