Teardrops

PROLOGUE

This poem reflects on the profound impact certain people can have on our lives, bringing hope, happiness, and purpose. However, their absence can lead to despair and sadness, akin to the emotional turmoil represented by teardrops. The speaker expresses a journey from loneliness to joy through a meaningful relationship, only to experience heartache when it fades. The metaphor of hot and cold behavior illustrates the conflicting emotions felt, transforming earlier promises of happiness into feelings of solitude. Ultimately, the experience serves as a lesson for personal growth despite the pain endured.

Teardrops

I was lost and alone when I found you,
Nobody by my side; I was on my own.
But you did what no one else could do;
You gave me renewed hope by the love you’d shown.

You brought me happiness that I never knew
and a sense of purpose I’d never known.
But all that changed when I stopped hearing from you,
as I waited in vain by the phone.

What seemed promising before was never true,
A world that was once bright now feels so alone
The sadness, the despair, they suddenly grew,
as thousands of teardrops fell for a love I bemoaned.

The hot and cold behavior you put me through,
caused these teardrops to form like rare stones.
Each day they covered my face like morning dew;
You were but a lesson that had helped me grown.
