Second Chances

by Christopher Louie

PROLOGUE

This poem emphasizes the importance of second chances in romantic relationships, arguing that true love deserves another opportunity. It suggests that learning from past mistakes can lead to healthier dynamics upon reuniting. The author highlights romantic ideals such as fate and destiny, asserting that if someone remains on your mind after separation, it signifies a deeper connection. While acknowledging that second chances require effort and resilience, the poem encourages individuals to hold onto love that brings positivity, suggesting that a reunion with the right person, even after difficulties, can ultimately lead to a stronger bond.

Second Chances

Sometimes a second chance
works out better than the first.
What you learned from a failed romance,
helps avoid repeating the worst.

Sometimes it’s just better
for two people to fall apart.
If they’re meant to be together,
nothing can separate their hearts.

We can learn from our mistakes
and strive to do better next round.
Sometimes a needed break
can turn everything around.

Let us believe in the notion
that people can change.
If they bring you positive emotions,
a reunion must be arranged.

But second chances aren’t easy
You both must put in the effort.
Be strong, resilient with tenacity,
and don’t give up when you get hurt.

You’ll be stronger when together
if you protect each other from harm.
If you really love each other
you can weather any storm.

Do you ever wonder why
that no matter what you do
they’re always on your mind?
It’s because they miss you too.

So if you still love each other,
and a life with them is what you see,
then do yourself a favor,
and reunite what’s meant to be.
