Their encounter feels strangely familiar, as if they’ve known each other from previous lifetimes, suggesting a deeper bond. As they get to know one another, the allure of their relationship grows, but soon it reveals itself as a karmic connection. One partner’s emotional withdrawal transforms their love into a painful lesson. Ultimately, the narrator chooses to end the relationship before being abandoned, acknowledging the bittersweet nature of their encounter and the illusion of potential they once shared.

I Left You Before You Could Leave Me

Do you remember when we first met?
We hadn’t seen each other before.
This magical bond is hard to forget;
We locked eyes as I passed through the door.

Mesmerized and enchanted,
where have I seen you before?
Not taking the moment for granted,
we got to know each other more.

Being with you felt easy and right;
The comfort felt with you was rare.
You almost didn’t let me leave that night;
I was touched by your long stare.

How you and I met was divine,
a soul contract created by fate.
We journeyed through many lifetimes,
to meet again as soulmates.

But it didn’t take long to find out,
this was a karmic connection.
Your cold withdrawal no doubt,
showed me that you were my lesson.

The love and potential that we had,
was an illusion for me to see.
Realizing the truth made me sad…
I left you before you could leave me.
