I Bury Myself In Work To Forget You
I know what we had is over,
‘though you never gave me my closure
but I also know that it’s time for me to move on.
That short time we spent together,
memories forever tethered
make it so hard to get over you since you’ve been gone.
The heart has been broken
memories forever frozen
preserved as they once were despite the passage of time.
The mind refuses to let go
and tears continue to flow
for a love that was once so moving and sublime.
But it is time for me to wake
and overcome this heartache
I need to break free from what no longer serves me.
I turn to other priorities
to suppress those memories
so that I can set every thought of you free.
What makes it so tough
to get over your love
is because your feelings for me were once pure and true.
I tried to keep myself busy
but I know it isn’t easy
I bury myself in work just to forget you.
