PROLOGUE
The poem reflects the deep remorse of an individual who regrets losing the love of their life. After being apart, they gain clarity on the significance of the other person and recognize the pain they caused. Not necessarily seeking reconciliation, the individual desires forgiveness to alleviate their guilt and suffering. They express longing to correct past wrongs and convey the persistent feelings they have for their former partner. The yearning for forgiveness is central to their emotional struggle, highlighting the difficulty of moving on when burdened by guilt and the hope that forgiveness can help heal their fractured past.
Forgive Me
I’m truly sorry, if only you could see,
the guilt I had endured for so long.
God has heard my daily pleas,
for a chance to right those wrongs.
I would do anything if I could be
with you again where I belong.
I regret that I set you free;
My feelings for you are still strong.
Please forgive me so that we
can mend the past and move along.
Can’t move on if the heart feels guilty,
because pain and agony will linger on.
If you find it in your heart to forgive me,
I hope it’ll be swift and not prolonged.
