Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder
You were a dream to me,
a fleeting fantasy,
a connection that ended before it could start.
You were my momentary rapture,
one that had me captured,
you made me a prisoner of my own heart.
My feelings for you that remained
keep my soul bound in chains;
It will be long before I can break these fetters.
I’m still hypnotized and spellbound
even though you’re not around;
I long so much for us to be together.
My love for you is sacred;
Doesn’t matter how long I’ve waited,
it only continues to grow.
True happiness you bring,
you have been a blessing
since the first time you said “Hello”.
And since you left me on my own,
tears have painted these cheekbones,
my mind can’t concentrate on anything else.
I miss you so much since then;
Desperate to see and talk with you again;
A mere thought of you and my heart suddenly melts.
What is this hold you have on me
that just won’t set me free?
This predicament often has me wondered.
The longer we are apart
I feel more yearning in my heart
because absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Tell me if there’s anything I can do
to reunite and be with you;
When you’re not here I love you even more.
The distance strengthens this bond;
And my memories of you are fond;
I wish to be back with you like before.
