“If You Love Something, Set It Free” explores the emotional complexities of love, sacrifice, separation, and freedom.
Inspired by the proverb coined by Richard Bach, the song reflects on a relationship built around support, kindness, and a willingness to endure hardships for the happiness of someone deeply loved. At its center is the realization that love is not always about holding on. Sometimes, it requires the courage to let go.
The story follows a speaker who wants to nurture and protect a relationship but ultimately faces the painful reality that the person they love may seek freedom. While separation brings emotional pain, the speaker recognizes that giving someone space can be an important part of love and personal growth.
The 2-track EP presents this story through two different musical interpretations:
01. If You Love Something, Set It Free (EDM Mix)
02. If You Love Something, Set It Free (Reimagined)
The “EDM Mix” offers an electronic interpretation of the song, while the “Reimagined” version presents another interpretation of the same story.
Together, the two tracks explore the difficult balance between holding on and standing back—the idea that love can sometimes mean allowing someone the freedom to choose their own path.
Ultimately, “If You Love Something, Set It Free” reflects on the possibility that what is meant to be may eventually return, while acknowledging that true love sometimes requires sacrifice, acceptance, and the willingness to let go.
