You Speak To Me Through Music

by Christopher Louie

PROLOGUE

This poem explores the intimate connection between love and music, emphasizing how songs can serve as a unique form of communication. Instead of verbal expressions, the speaker appreciates that lyrics can convey feelings and thoughts more effectively. This reliance on music allows for unspoken messages and memories to be shared, especially between two individuals where one struggles to articulate their feelings. The poem suggests that music acts as a secret code, facilitating understanding and connection without the drama that spoken words can introduce. Ultimately, it highlights the powerful role music plays in emotional expression and relationship dynamics.

You Speak To Me Through Music

l love your posts and reels,
through music they reveal,
what you want to say to me.
The lyrics they convey,
the words you want to say,
without you speaking audibly.

Through music we rely,
the lyrics they specify,
our thoughts, feelings and intentions.
It could be a secret code,
a message to behold,
our subtle way of communication.

What lies within our heads
don’t all need to be said;
Here’s where music can be leveraged.
The use of the right song,
it doesn’t need to be long,
can convey the intended message.

Each song we choose is sacred;
captures moments we created,
it draws up memories of times lost.
Each song has purpose and intent,
that only you and I understand;
It’s one way to get our thoughts across.

That’s ‘cause you’re the quiet kind
who doesn’t speak your mind;
It’s hard to get a word out of you.
But if the message is embedded,
in a song we can connect with,
it’s a safe way to get our message through.

You think that too many words,
don’t all need to be heard,
because drama is what you fear.
As connections can be broken,
if wrong words are spoken;
Your music speaks what I need to hear.
