Too Many Things Remind Me Of You (Déjà Vu) | Music

by Christopher Louie

There are some stories we never truly stop telling—stories that linger in the corners of our memory, replaying themselves in familiar faces, forgotten scents, and tiny everyday moments we wish didn’t still hurt.

Today, I finally get to share one of those stories with you.
My music video for “Too Many Things Remind Me Of You (Déjà Vu)” is officially out now on YouTube at @christopherlouieVEVO. The video is also embedded below.

This track is the opening chapter of my brand-new 5-track EP, Too Many Things Remind Me Of You, which also dropped today and is now streaming everywhere—Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon Music Unlimited, and more.

EP Track Listing:

01. Too Many Things Remind Me Of You (Déjà Vu)
02. Too Many Things Remind Me Of You (Echo)
03. Too Many Things Remind Me Of You (Reveries)
04. Too Many Things Remind Me Of You (Memories)
05. Too Many Things Remind Me Of You (Nostalgia)

While “Echo” captured the beginning of something beautiful, “Déjà Vu” is its haunting counterpart—a look back at what remains when love becomes memory, and memory becomes a maze you can’t quite escape.

The Heartbreak Behind “Déjà Vu”

“Too Many Things Remind Me Of You (Déjà Vu)” was born from a very specific kind of ache—the quiet, persistent kind you learn to live with because you were never given closure. It came from a place of asking questions into the dark and knowing the silence is the only reply you’ll ever get.

The poem behind the track captures that journey:

It’d been years since you last stood in front of me.
I got older; my heart grew colder—
not out of bitterness, but because you took the flame with you
when you left without warning, without explanation.

You never told me why.
No goodbye, no final look, no moment to understand.
Just a door left halfway open,
as if you might slip back through it someday.

So I searched for you everywhere—
old cafés, old corners, old streets
where we made memories that still haven’t loosened their grip.
Sometimes I’d see a flash of you—
a shape, a sound, a laugh—
only for it to disappear before I could breathe.

Coffee cups.
Laughter down a hallway.
A familiar melody floating through a room.
It’s astonishing how ordinary things become landmines
when they carry the weight of someone you once loved.

Every reminder was déjà vu—
a loop of all we were,
all we could’ve been,
all that’s left of us now.

And yet, in the quiet part of my heart,
I still find myself wondering:
Where are you now? Are you happy? Did you find the future we never got to build?
Because even in the hurt, there’s still hope that you found your own beginning somewhere else.

Why This Music Video Matters

This video isn’t just a visual companion to the song—it’s a time capsule of all the ghosts we carry.
It’s the moment you recognize someone’s laugh across a crowded room.
It’s the way a scent stops you in your tracks.
It’s the heaviness that rises when a certain song plays on the radio.

I created this video to honor those moments—not to cling to the past, but to acknowledge that some loves echo long after they’re gone. Every new experience, every new memory, can feel strangely familiar because the heart hasn’t fully let go of that one irreplaceable person. Not out of brokenness, but because we once cared that deeply.

Not every story ends with a reunion.
Some end with remembrance.
And that’s what “Déjà Vu” is about.
