As I look ahead to the release of my fifth instrumental album on February 17, 2026, I’m sharing one of its most emotionally reflective pieces: “Track 4. We Need To Let Each Other Go.” This project leans into the expressive depth of East Asian instrumentation, with bamboo flute and sweeping strings shaping the tone and guiding the emotional landscape. Along with the track itself, I’m also offering a full music video that visually captures the atmosphere surrounding its themes.
“We Need To Let Each Other Go” is connected to a poem that examines the moment when two people realize that the bond they once held so tightly can no longer be sustained. It explores the quiet tension between longing and acceptance—the desire to mend what has drifted apart, and the recognition that genuine closure only comes when both sides choose to release one another. It’s a reflection on love that has deeply intertwined two lives, even as those lives now need to move in separate directions.
In its instrumental form, the piece embodies that emotional crossroads. The melodies echo the inner negotiation between holding on and stepping forward, blending tenderness with a calm acknowledgment of change. Without relying on words, the music carries the essence of that shift from heartache to understanding.
This track—and the accompanying music video—offer a window into the broader themes of the album: transition, emotional clarity, and the quiet resilience it takes to let go. As the full release approaches on Chinese New Year, I’m grateful to share this chapter with listeners who continue to follow the unfolding journey.
