There are certain stories we carry with us—moments that imprint themselves so deeply that they become the foundation for the art we later share with the world.The First Date is my way of capturing those moments in a general sense. And today, I’m incredibly excited to say that the official music video for “The First Date” is now live on my YouTube VEVO channel.
This track is the centerpiece of my new 4-track EP, The First Date, released Friday, December 5, and the lyrics come directly from my original poem of the same name. That poem is an honest snapshot of anticipation, vulnerability, and the magic of meeting someone who shifts your entire world in an instant.
The poem opens with:
Dusk stretched across the orange sky,
hung soft above the car windowpane.
I glanced at my watch to check the time,
Counting down the hours that remained.
Those lines captured not just a setting but a feeling—a mix of nerves, hope, and the quiet electricity that comes with stepping into the unknown. As the poem unfolds, so does the emotional landscape: the delays that sparked worry, the moment of arrival, the swirl of doubts, and ultimately the breath-stopping realization that the person standing before you felt inexplicably familiar—as if our paths had crossed in another life.
That sense of destiny—of suddenly recognizing something ancient in someone entirely new—became the heartbeat of both the poem and the track. When I decided to build the EP around The First Date, this song naturally became the anchor, the emotional compass guiding the project.
The music video takes that same journey and brings it fully to life. It mirrors the intensity of those first moments: the rushing thoughts, the quiet overthinking, the spark of connection, and the feeling that time itself begins to move differently. Watching it now, I’m reminded of why this story mattered enough for me to share it—not just as a poem, but as music, visuals, and a complete experience.
Talking with you, the hours took flight;
Our interests and dreams were the same.
Being with you felt so pure, so right;
That night I found my soul’s twin flame.
I hope the music video resonates with you —whether you’re reliving your own first date, longing for one, or simply remembering what it’s like to let yourself fall.
