PROLOGUE
This poem depicts a complex relationship where one person seeks deeper emotional connection. Set in an elevator of a hotel, two individuals reunite after months apart, sharing intimate moments filled with longing and affection. As their physical attraction intensifies, the speaker expresses feelings of love, which is reciprocated by the other. Despite the joyful reunion, they are left pondering the uncertainty of their future together, wishing for permanence in their fleeting connection. The emotional depth contrasts with the physical nature of their relationship, showcasing the pain and desire inherent in their situation.
The Elevator
I met you at the elevator
in the city’s grand hotel lobby.
It’d been months since we were together;
You looked radiant when you approached me.
You went for my lips when the door closed.
We laughed as my eyes welled up with tears.
I said you looked hot in your tight clothes
and that I was happy you were finally here.
So dangerous to dress like that at night;
A figure sculpted like a work of art.
Hard for people to behave at such a sight;
I could hardly stand what it did to my heart.
It felt really good when you hugged me tight
as I cried out that I missed you so much.
You replied that you missed me more that night;
I knew you meant every word by your touch.
During that night you asked if I love you,
I didn’t hesitate to say that I do.
My feelings for you are strong and raw;
You possess a certain je ne sais quoi.
I pulled you close and whispered “You’re mine”;
“I wanna be yours” was your sincere reply.
The time that we spent flew by so fast
My only regret… the night didn’t last.
Why do all good things must come to an end?
It pained me to not know when I’d see you again.
I watched as you left, your eyes exuded warmth.
I just wanted to hold you again in these arms.
You left me like how I met you,
both times at the elevator.
I would fantasize often too,
that someday we’ll be together…
…..forever.
