PROLOGUE
This poem reflects a fictional celebrity’s internal struggle with the burdens of fame. Initially drawn to the glamour and adoration from fans, the protagonist soon realizes the negative impact of fame on their life. Despite the excitement that fame brings, the relentless attention from the paparazzi and the loss of personal honor lead to a deep desire for anonymity. As a final act, the individual prepares to perform a swan song, hoping to erase their celebrity persona and return to obscurity, yearning for a time when they will no longer be remembered.
Swan Song
How I loathe and bemoan
a life of glamour and fame;
The glitz and glam I’d known
was part of this thrilling game.
So much love my fans had shown
whenever they screamed out my name.
Some of them dazed and stoned
But their devotions all the same.
My fanbase had quickly grown
when a legend I became.
My star and the light it shone
brought me ever increasing fame.
The paparazzies that were thrown
into my path unashamed
wrecked my honor like a cyclone.
I’ve only my fame to blame.
But now I crave to be alone
with no one to remember my name.
I’ll do one last act on my own
to extinguish this celebrity’s flame.
My swan song before I go home
and disappear to where I came.
I’d like someday to be an unknown
where everyone forgets my name.
