November Rain

PROLOGUE

This poem reflects on the beauty and unexpected joy of a blind date during a rainy November night. It describes how the couple felt an immediate, rare chemistry, and how comfortable they were with each other despite the uncertainties of a first meeting. The speaker expresses a willingness to endure heartache again if it meant experiencing that special connection once more. Through vivid imagery, the poem captures the essence of the moment and the deep emotional impact the encounter had on the speaker, suggesting it was fate and that nostalgia plays a significant role in remembering their time together.

November Rain

A dreary night, the pavement wet
I remember the musky scent
that November night when we first met;
You were a dream that I had dreamt.

The air was moist and the clouds wept
that night when we were poised to meet.
I was unsure what to expect
as it was a date that was discreet.

You called my name as I looked for you
My heart fluttered when I turned around.
The excitement that I never knew
filled me with joy by your sweet sound.

A face so perfect you had me swept
off my feet by a vision fair;
A visage not easy to forget –
those sweet features, stunning and rare.

We spoke of life, I learned of your past;
I love that you were vulnerable.
You opened up to me so fast,
the time we spent felt comfortable.

Our hopes and dreams did not contrast;
You want the same future as me.
I sensed that this connection would last
when I realized we were meant to be.

By the end I knew this was fate;
Nostalgia of that night still remains.
I had a chance to meet my soulmate
during one cold November rain.

It’s now been years since you left that day
but I’d gladly go through those same pains.
I’d redo my life the exact same way
if it meant I would meet you again…
