No Buildup, Just Memory: 3-Track EP ‘October Once More’ Drops Today

by Christopher Louie

There’s something about October that feels like both an ending and a beginning — a month painted in bittersweet shades of change. It’s the sound of footsteps on fallen leaves, the warmth of coffee shared with someone who once felt like home, and the quiet ache that lingers when that someone becomes a memory.

Today, without buildup or fanfare, I’m releasing a new 3-track EP titled October Once More, streaming now on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon Music Unlimited, YouTube, and other major platforms. No countdowns, no teasers — just a moment of honesty shared directly from the heart. This project arrives quietly, the same way the memories that inspired it still return — unannounced, unexpected, and impossible to ignore.

Track Listing:

Track 1. October Once More (Lament Reprise)
Track 2. October Once More (Haunting Edit)
Track 3. October Once More (Obsidian Veil)

This EP is based on a poem I wrote in October 2024 — a piece born from nostalgia, heartbreak, and reflection. That poem, also titled October Once More, became the emotional center of this collection. It tells the story of an individual reminiscing about a love that both began and ended in October: a connection first kindled in a coffee lounge, where eyes met and time seemed to stand still, only to dissolve a year later under the same autumn sky.

I remember writing those lines late one October night, retracing the story’s arc in my mind — from the spark of connection to the silent departure that followed. The imagery of that “coffee lounge” stayed with me: the hum of quiet conversation, the feeling that time felt suspended, as if the world held its breath, and the intensity of two people seeing only each other. There’s something sacred about remembering moments you can’t return to — and this EP captures that feeling of both warmth and ache.

Musically, October Once More embraces synth-pop textures and retro 1980s soundscapes that echo like memories caught between dream and reality. It’s nostalgic yet modern, blending digital warmth with emotional vulnerability. Each track represents a chapter of the same journey: the beginning, the ending, and the aftermath.

In a way, this release also serves as a bridge — a gift for listeners waiting for my upcoming album, Volume One (I Left You Before You Could Leave Me) [Reimagined], which is currently scheduled for digital release on October 24. The long wait between projects felt incomplete without something deeply personal to share in the meantime.

The poem ends with a question that still feels alive each time I read it aloud:
“Are you happy and doing well?”

It’s a line that embodies the core of this project — that tender space between closure and wonder, between what was and what lingers. Because some stories don’t truly end. Some loves don’t truly fade.

And every year, when the air cools and the leaves begin to fall, I find myself revisiting those memories — as though my heart knows it is October once more.
