Lunar Summer Blues

We met at the glimpse of summer,
I didn’t expect to discover,
that you’d be the birth of my tragedy.
You were my euphoria,
till you were my dysphoria,
when you told me we weren’t meant to be.

So much for wanting us together,
and longing for forever;
That was indeed a poisonous yearning.
You were my midsummer storm;
It was wild for a few months on,
till you quenched the flame that kept my heart burning.

You broke my heart on the day,
just before your birthday,
now I’m left staring at the whiskey and roses I brought along.
I’m numb with lunar blues,
under the moon thinking of you;
I had waited all day yesterday to sing you tomorrow’s song.

It was a day to be celebrated,
but now alone and inebriated,
confusion and despair consumed me.
I know that we’re through
but I still can’t get over you,
who is my fleeting summer fantasy.
