As a writer and artist, I’ve always been fascinated by the emotions that exist between words — the unspoken spaces where love, regret, and memory collide. This song comes from my new album, Volume One (I Left You Before You Could Leave Me) Reimagined, which reinterprets a collection of poems I’ve written over time. Each piece in the album stands as its own short story — imagined moments, composite characters, and emotional landscapes inspired by human connection. They’re reflections of the kinds of experiences that could belong to anyone.

The speaker in this story is a character shaped by universal feelings of loss and reflection. He looks back on a love he failed to value, wondering if time has erased his chance for redemption. It’s a story about perspective — how distance can magnify what once felt small.
