PROLOGUE
This poem offers a reinterpretation of the classic Cinderella tale, centering on her perspective. It begins with Cinderella’s excitement over an upcoming ball but highlights her stepmother’s denial of her attendance. A magical intervention allows her to go, leading to a chance encounter with the prince. However, the magic fades at midnight, forcing her to flee and leave behind a glass slipper. The prince’s search for the slipper’s owner culminates in Cinderella’s triumph when it fits perfectly. This poem encourages readers to maintain faith and positivity, suggesting that dreams can manifest and that kindness can help overcome life’s challenges.
Dreams Do Come True
I was overly ecstatic,
a ball for the aristocratic
was announced for all the maidens in the land
It reached far and wide
the prince wanted a bride
How my heart longed to be able to attend.
But I couldn’t go
My step-mother said so
before she left with her two haughty daughters.
It was then a dreary night
until I saw a shimmering light;
An angel took pity when all seemed to falter.
By her magic I was whisked away
to the royal ball that day
in a magical pumpkin carriage.
That night I met the prince
who genuinely had me convinced
that he wanted my hand in marriage.
But our time was disrupted
when at midnight the bell erupted
sending me running before the magic broke.
I left behind a glass slipper that day
in my quick attempt to get away.
Life was same again before the spells were invoked.
I never thought I’d see the prince again
until a proclamation was made to the land;
The prince was in search of the one who the slipper fit.
When I had a chance to try it on
it was a perfect fit and thereupon
dreams and happily ever after do exist.
So continue to dream
all may not be what it seems
but faith will bring magic into your life.
Remain positive and kind
leave all negativity behind
to overcome your burden, struggles and strifes.
