Dancing Under The Moonlight (Music)

by Christopher Louie

This poem reflects on the unspoken tension between two shy individuals who are interested in one another yet struggle to make eye contact and communicate. The speaker observes the other person’s hesitance, finding beauty in their quietness and imagining a romantic evening together. As they stand close but silent, the speaker fantasizes about taking the person out for dinner and dancing under the moonlight, envisioning meaningful moments and connection. However, just as the speaker gathers the courage to engage, the other person departs, leaving the speaker determined to seize the opportunity another time.
