Unveiling Gothic Halloween 2-Track EP “The Love of Jonathan Harker”

by Christopher Louie

Every October, I find myself drawn to the shadows — the kind of haunting beauty that only the gothic can inspire. This Halloween, I wanted to give my listeners something special, something that truly captures that eerie yet poetic space where romance and fear intertwine. That’s why I’m thrilled to announce my new 2-track EP, The Love of Jonathan Harker, releasing October 30, 2025 — just in time for Halloween.

This project has been living in my imagination for a year. It began as a poem I wrote last Halloween, inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula — a tale that’s equal parts love story and nightmare. The poem, also titled “The Love of Jonathan Harker,” is written from the perspective of Harker himself as he pens a trembling letter to his beloved Mina while trapped in the Count’s castle. It’s filled with longing, dread, and the quiet desperation of a man realizing he may never see home again.

The verses themselves became the heartbeat of this 2-Track EP. The music carries a haunting, gothic tone — ghostly melodies that linger like candlelight in an abandoned corridor. Both tracks weave melancholic, spectral lilting around the eerie melody, blurring the line between poetry and dark cinematic soundscape. The result is something that feels both timeless and unsettling — a love letter sent from beyond the grave.

  1. The Love Of Jonathan Harker
  2. The Love Of Jonathan Harker (Darkwave Mix)

When I first wrote “Dear Mina, I tremble as I write…”, I could already hear the faint echoes of a piano and strings in my head, drifting through cobwebbed halls. Translating that imagery into music was a deeply personal experience. I wanted listeners to feel what Jonathan felt: the tension between devotion and fear, between human warmth and the cold breath of the supernatural.

To bring the story fully to life, I’ve also released a music video on my YouTube channel (@christopherlouiepoetry). The visuals capture the poem’s atmosphere — candlelight, letters, and the haunting beauty of solitude — a fitting backdrop for the gothic narrative.

The EP officially drops tomorrow, October 30, and will be available for streaming on most major digital platforms, including Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, iTunes, and Amazon Music. I wanted it to arrive just before Halloween — a little surprise for my fans and listeners, and a seasonal treat for anyone who loves poetry that flirts with the macabre.

If you’ve ever wondered what it might sound like if love letters could echo through the halls of Dracula’s castle, The Love of Jonathan Harker is my answer.

So light a candle, close the curtains, and press play.
Happy Halloween — and may your nights be beautifully haunted.
