PROLOGUE
This poem explores the societal conditioning boys face regarding emotional expression, particularly crying, which is often viewed as a weakness. Despite this, the speaker reflects on the profound impact of a past relationship, emphasizing that when a boy does cry, it signifies his deep and genuine love. The emotional turmoil stemming from the end of this relationship reveals that memories can still bring pain, illustrating the struggle between societal expectations and authentic feelings. Ultimately, the poem argues that a boy’s tears are a testament to a heartfelt love that may never be replicated.
Boys Hate To Cry
Boys hate to cry,
we rarely ever do.
Never bawled my eyes,
before I met you.
Laughs and smiles,
when we first started;
Was that way for a while
till you and I parted.
Now just tears on my face
when I think of you.
Memories I still embrace
are turning my heart blue.
When a boy, for you, sheds tears,
it means his love for you is true;
He may never love again as dear
as the way he once loved you.
