“At A Crossroads” is the lead track from my fifth album, Volume Five (Goodbye). When creating the video, I wanted the visuals to reflect the emotional turbulence expressed in the poem—specifically the pain of standing at a pivotal moment in a relationship, unsure whether to hold on or let go. The main character mourns a lost love, wrestling with memories and lingering emotions, despite feeling emotionally numb. He’s torn between hope and despair—questioning whether to rekindle what was or move on for good.
This internal struggle is symbolized by the metaphor of two diverging paths: one toward reconciliation, the other toward closure. To bring this idea to life visually, I placed the character at a literal wooden crossroads sign—underscoring the weight of the decision he must make.

The video’s atmosphere mirrors the poem’s somber tone. I chose a muted color palette—mostly grays, mists, and snow—to evoke a sense of emotional coldness and isolation. The character is dressed in a heavy wool coat, wandering through fog-laden scenes that reflect his numbness and sorrow. Many shots show him looking downward in grief or upward in silent questioning, as if seeking answers from a higher power.
Time plays a key symbolic role. He repeatedly glances at a watch—sometimes a wristwatch, sometimes a pocket watch—emphasizing the urgency of the decision he faces. His expression suggests he’s already leaning in one direction, though not yet ready to act. His turmoil signals that this is not a situation that can linger indefinitely.
In the opening scene, we see him walking a cracked and broken path—an image that aligns with the lyrics
I’ve walked a path of shattered dreams
since the day I lost love’s gleam

A lone female figure is seen fleeing into the distance, clutching a burning lantern — not just a source of light, but a symbol of the flame she once ignited in his heart, and perhaps stole away with. In one scene, she is shown holding the lantern like a fragile memory, its flame flickering with the warmth they once shared. From afar, he watches, as if his heart is suspended in silence because he is unable to grasp why she turned away when love still burned so brightly between them.
This poem was born from a crossroads many know well—the quiet ache of standing between holding on and letting go. In love, there comes a moment when we’re called to choose: do we keep walking beside someone, or release them when the path no longer feels aligned with our own? It’s a deeply human dilemma, one that lingers in the silence between heartbeats.
In the video, as in the poem, the character never makes a clear choice. That was intentional. His journey unfolds entirely in the realm of thought and emotion—a silent storm of what-ifs and unanswered questions. The decision hangs suspended, never fully formed, much like in real life, where some endings never arrive with clarity.

In the closing scene, he stands with his back to the camera—a quiet, unresolved image that doesn’t signal a decision, but rather invites reflection. It leaves space for interpretation, allowing each viewer to project their own understanding of where his heart may be headed.
Thank you for watching. I hope the story spoke to something within you. Feel free to share your thoughts or questions in the comments—and stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes glimpses into upcoming projects.
